Station 1 - The I-81 Challenge

• Learn about the background, purpose, and process of The I-81 Challenge.

Station 2 - The I-81 Challenge to Date

• Learn about the work that has been completed to date and some of our key findings.
• Optional: Review the material and videos presented at our previous meetings, if you were unable to attend or if you would like a review.

Station 3 - The History of I-81

• The development of transportation in the Syracuse region and the impact I-81 has had on our neighborhoods and region.
• Watch our video on the history of I-81.

Station 4 - Our Transportation System Today

• Current conditions along the I-81 corridor including design deficiencies, bridge conditions, safety and congestion issues, traffic volumes and travel patterns in our multi-modal system.

Station 5 - The Transportation - Land Use Relationship

• The complex relationship between how we use our land and the development of our transportation system.
• Explore some of the difficulties and opportunities with land use planning in our region now and in the future.
• Understand our local cultural and environmental resources.

Station 6 - What Others Have Done

• How five cities have addressed their urban freeways including the similarities and differences with I-81 and the key lessons learned.
• Watch our video on urban freeway case studies.

Station 7 - Your Visions

• Review the nearly 150 "visions" we received from the public at the May 2011 workshops.
• Review the process used to categorize and pre-screen these ideas before moving into strategy development.

Station 8 - Strategies for the Future of I-81

• Review key elements and traffic modeling results for the No-Build, Rehabilitation, Tunnel, Depressed Highway, Reconstruction, and Boulevard strategies.
• Learn how the strategies were assessed and which strategies are recommended to move forward into environmental review.
• Provide your thoughts about the strategy development process.

Station 9 - Our Transit System

• Learn about our current transit system.
• Explore different transit improvement scenarios that might be available to our region.
• Give us your input on improvements you would like to see.

Station 10 - Transition to Environmental Review

• Learn how the I-81 Corridor Study will progress into environmental review.
• Get an overview of the National Environment Policy Act (NEPA) and how that will apply to any project or projects that emerge from the I-81 Corridor Study.
